Two East Gippslanders were recognised for their achievements at the 2018 Victorian Young Achiever Awards on Friday, May 18.

Swifts Creek’s Sarah O’Brien was nominated for the Victoria Regional and Rural Health Award, while Lara Bolger, of Bairnsdale, was nominated for the Arts and Fashion Award. Sarah is currently completing a double degree in nursing and paramedicine and has been a sports trainer since 2011. Sarah also volunteers with the CFA. is a netball umpire and coach and senior pool lifeguard. Lara has been dancing since she was 11 years old and teaches dance techniques to younger students, leading to her achievement of the Rotary Volunteers Award. Lara is also active with the local theatre company and often gets involved with fundraising events.
