The LGBTI Equality Roadshow- organised by Victoria’s first Gender and Sexuality Commissioner, Ro Allen – is coming to Bairnsdale on the 20th and 21st of March.

The HEY Project Team have been in regular contact with Daniel Witthaus from the Department of Premier and Cabinet, and they are excited to announce the two-day itinerary of the LGBTI Equality Roadshow.

“The aim of the Roadshow is to reduce discrimination and promote inclusion of LGBTI people in everyday rural and regional life. We want to work with local LGBTI communities, key stakeholders and allies to deliver two days filled with workshops, community dinners, performances, networking opportunities and other community events. Joining the Commissioner will be a bus load of guests including Victorian LGBTI Entertainer of the Year, Dolly Diamond. A community dinner will be held at the Bairnsdale Sporting and Convention Centre, providing a safe, supportive space for LGBTI people and their allies,” explained Ro Allen.

The events are free of charge and open to all members of the community.
Come along to learn more about what is currently happening across the state, locally, brainstorm, learn and network with other people. If you know someone who may be interested in attending, please feel free to forward them this information (workers, friends, family etc.).

The Community Dinner will be co-hosted by the Committee for Gippsland and aims to bring together LGBTI stakeholders, allies and supporters, and it would be awesome if you could attend. Entertainer, Dolly Diamonds, will be present on the night and there will be an informal chance to network and acknowledge the local efforts of LGBT community members.
